DBTeens is an entirely online 12-week intensive outpatient mental health treatment program (IOP) for youth ages 12-18. Our experienced staff is committed to offering an innovative treatment option to young people in New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont.  We recognize that many teens need more service per week than an individual therapy session, yet don’t require psychiatric hospitalization.  DBTeens offers up to 16+ hours per week of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) treatment online AT HOME.

  • Weekly Individual Therapy Session, addressing target behaviors using a diary card and behavioral chain analysis (50-minutes)
  • Daily Meetings, Sunday through Thursday from 4:30 – 8 PM, to develop skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, walking the middle path, and mindfulness, complete the behavioral tracking tool (diary card) to the treatment team, and participate in a various activities (mindfulness, music, mindful movement, and art) before bed (3+ hours) including:
    • Weekly Skills Training Group, for teens to learn, with their adult partners, DBT skills (90-minutes)
    • Two Group Skills Coaching Sessions per week, to help hone and generalize skills taught in other groups (75-minutes each)
  • Weekly Skills Training Group, for parent(s)/adult partners to also learn skills in the areas of mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness (90-minutes)
  • Weekly Caregiver Skills Coaching Session, for parents/adult partners to help respond to teen’s behavior/needs within the DBT framework (40-minutes)

Our goal is to offer teens and families the guidance and support they need to be successful. We believe the best way to do this is through short bursts of treatment every day so that they can master the content over the course of three months.  We work hard to ensure that teens not only learn the DBT skills, but also practice them daily.
